The latest edition of India Today's Mood of the Nation poll provides valuable insights into the political landscape of India as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections draw near. Here's a summary of the key points:

  1. PM Modi's Popularity: Narendra Modi remains the top choice for Prime Minister according to 52% of voters surveyed. This underscores his enduring popularity and the confidence the electorate has in his leadership.

  2. Potential Contenders: Other BJP leaders such as Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, and Nitin Gadkari also emerge as contenders for the prime ministerial post, albeit with varying levels of support.

  3. Congress' Performance: The Congress party, while projected to secure fewer seats compared to the BJP-led NDA, sees Rahul Gandhi and Sachin Pilot being perceived as the best leaders to rejuvenate the party. However, the survey suggests that the party may continue its stint in the opposition benches.

  4. Leadership in Opposition: Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, and Rahul Gandhi are seen as potential leaders of the opposition, with Kejriwal leading the pack.

  5. Government Performance: The Modi government's performance over its tenure receives favorable ratings from 67% of respondents. The handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, revocation of Article 370, and the construction of the Ram Mandir are cited as notable achievements.

  6. Challenges and Criticisms: Despite its successes, the government faces criticism for issues such as price rise and unemployment, which are seen as its biggest failures by a significant portion of respondents.

  7. Survey Methodology: The poll surveyed a substantial number of respondents across all Lok Sabha segments in India, providing a comprehensive overview of public opinion. Additionally, it utilized a large dataset from C-voter's regular tracker data to inform its findings.

Overall, the Mood of the Nation poll offers valuable insights into the preferences, perceptions, and concerns of Indian voters as the country approaches a pivotal election cycle.
